Organic featured at the Maison de Mode Ethical Pop-Up Shop this weekend

Tomorrow marks the opening of the Maison de Mode Ethical Pop-Up Shop at the Hole Gallery, which is located at 312 Bowery Street in New York. The pop-up shop will be open to the public Friday through Sunday from 12-7pm. The Maison de Mode Pop-Up Ethical Shop will feature a capsule collection from Organic by John Patrick, amongst the acclaimed Stella McCartneyOsklen and several others. In the pop-up shop, there will be featured items from Organic's Pre-Fall 2013 collection that are not yet available in our webstore. The event, in conjunction with the Frieze Art Fair, is founded by Designer Hassan Pierrecurated by Town & Country's Special Project Editor Amanda Hearst and will also be co-hosted by Hannah Bronfman

Amanda Hearst reflected on the debut of Maison de Mode this past December at Art Basel Miami Beach, which nearly sold out, telling the New York Times' T Magazine, "The funny thing is that I think a lot of people walked away not realizing the items were ethically produced. I basically made it my mission to prove that ethical fashion isn't frumpy and bland."

Must watch: Ron Finley on TEDTalks

Ron Finley, co-founder of L.A. Green Grounds, is a guerilla gardener who plants vegetable gardens in South Central L.A. wherever he can, such as in abandoned lots, traffic medians and alongside curbs. He is empowered by gardening and explains in an interview with CNN that when you look at the statistics, you see that drive-thrus literally are killing more people than the drive-bys.

Finley hopes to create positive change by starting an urban garden revolution and also writes in a recent op-ed, "We need to take the responsibility to be the creative force in our society. We need to be the gardeners of our society."

We are infatuated with his approach towards creating a revolution through urban gardening. Please check out his featured appearance on TEDTalks.

This week in review

Earlier this week, Women's Wear Daily wrote about Organic's participation in the 3rd annual symposium at the Fashion Law Institute at Fordham Law, where panelists discussed the Federal Trade Commission's recently updated Green Guides, what it means to be sustainable & ethical and how the fashion industry has a long way to go.

Vogue Australia also highlighted Hannah Bronfman wearing Organic in their March 2013 issue in a wonderful article about Hannah for their monthly SPY feature.

Additionally, Ecouterre posted about an event taking place tonight at GGrippo Art + Design in Brooklyn, where Organic will join other designers and editors to host a conversation about slow fashion. You may find more information about the event courtesy of the Ethical Fashion Academy. Looking forward!

Also this week, fashion blogger Olivia Inkster wrote about Organic's A/W 2013 collection for Style Defined NYC and also a more personal recollection on her own blog Those Kind of Girls. Olivia wrote of the collection, "...This build-up reflected the balance in John Patrick’s latest creations, which seem to represent the quintessential downtown girl but one with a more graduated perspective on herself and the world around her, consciousness of even the clothes she hangs in her closet." We love this reflection, thank you!

Organic by John Patrick was sprinkled throughout the web in celebration of Earth Day this week, with many media outlets featuring Organic in their timely features about sustainable fashion.

Our favorites included the Short Sleeve Shirttail as featured on MSN.com's Lifestyle section, the Combo Pullover as featured on LifestyleMirror.com, and the Mariniere Pullover, as seen on WhoWhatWear.com

Additionally, the International Design Times quoted a recent article from the Huffington Post, in which professor and founder of the Fashion Law Institute, Susan Scafidi, spoke highly of Organic

Lastly, thank you to Modern Farmer for including the Oversize 1 Pocket Shirt in their "Things We Love" section.
